How to Install Microsoft’s New Windows Terminal

First you will need to download Chocolatey ( https://chocolatey.org/ the package manager for Windows – Software Management Automation ).

***Before you start, make sure you have the “Windows 10 1903 update” installed on your computer***

STEP #1

Run this in Command Prompt:

@”%SystemRoot%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe” -NoProfile -InputFormat None -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Command “iex ((New-Object System.Net.WebClient).DownloadString(‘https://chocolatey.org/install.ps1′))” && SET “PATH=%PATH%;%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\chocolatey\bin”

Or you can run it via PowerShell:

Set-ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Scope Process -Force; iex ((New-Object System.Net.WebClient).DownloadString(‘https://chocolatey.org/install.ps1‘))

STEP #2

Once Chocolatey is installed you can upgrade it. By running this command:

choco upgrade chocolatey

STEP #3

Now you can install the new Windows Terminal by running this command:

choco install microsoft-windows-terminal

You can also run the upgrade once the install is done:

choco upgrade microsoft-windows-terminal
